Grief and Trauma Therapy in Glendale, Arizona
Your pain is unbearable, but your story is not too much.
You don’t have to keep doing this alone. It’s time to start feeling like yourself again.
Hi I’m Grace, and I get it.
I’m not here to fix you, I’m here to help you live more fully as your true self. When terrible things happen, sometimes you just need someone who gets it. I’m a therapist, a griever, and someone who has sat on a lot of other therapist’s couches.
I need help with
Navigating Grief
After a sudden loss, your world is turned upside down. You might feel like you just aren’t the person you used to be, or like your brain doesn’t quite work the same way. Maybe you are starting to question what your life is supposed to look like now or if the things you thought you wanted still make sense. Your understanding of the world and your place in it has shifted, and you don’t know what to hold on to.
You don’t have to move on, but you can move forward.
Grief counseling can help you find peace again. We can help you start to feel like yourself again, even if it’s a new version of who you thought you were. You won’t be swept up in this wave forever. We can get your feet back under you and help you learn to continue on, even when part of your world isn’t with you anymore.
Healing From Trauma
Whether it’s childhood trauma, religious trauma, generational trauma, or whatever you are going through, I’m sure you are exhausted. Constantly scanning for threats, protecting yourself and your loved ones all the time, and trying to make sense of why your body is reacting the way it is; it’s a full time job. You might feel like your mind doesn’t work the way you want it to, or like you are forced into a role that doesn’t feel like yourself.
Therapy for PTSD or CPTSD can help you feel like you aren’t just reacting to your life, you are in the driver’s seat. We can help you feel like you are living authentically again, letting down the defenses and being able to be present with your loved ones. You can have meaningful relationships and enjoy life again.
It doesn’t have to always feel this way.
Queer Affirming Therapy
You don’t need therapy because you are queer, but we also can’t leave that part of you at the door as we try to help you heal. You might be facing discrimination in your family or your community, feel the need to defend or explain your sexuality or gender, or just have a lot of questions about what your new found identity means for your life. Every part of you deserves a non-judgmental and LBTQ+ affirming therapist who really gets it.
Gender-affirming care saves lives. Together in therapy, we can help you build confidence in every aspect of your identity, learn skills to build more meaningful and authentic relationships, and set healthy boundaries with people who just don’t get it. Navigating a world that doesn’t understand you isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Working with a queer identified therapist can help you live the authentic life you are dreaming of.
Talk Therapy and Music Therapy for Teens
Being a teenager is hard enough already, now throw in trauma, bullying, social isolation, or any number of mental health concerns and you might be wondering, “ is therapy right for my child?” Maybe you notice your teen isn’t acting like themselves anymore, they are struggling to develop meaningful friendships, or they keep telling you something isn’t right and they just can’t put their finger on it. It might be time to get a licensed mental health professional for your teen, so we can work together to support them. It doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong, we all know it takes a village.
Therapy that your teen will actually want to go to.
Therapy for adolescents can help them tackle the primary developmental task of figuring out who they are. Therapy can help them develop a strong sense of self, healthy self-esteem, healthy relationship skills, and a feeling that they belong somewhere. All of this is targeted to the needs of teenagers, and can help them learn to manage mental health, trauma, and grief, in age-appropriate ways. Using music can help them express their feelings in a language that feels comfortable.
Ready to take the next step?
Starting therapy is intimidating.
You aren’t sure if this therapist is the right fit, or even if therapy is what you need right now. I try to make the process as simple as possible so that you feel in control the whole way through. Here’s how we get started:
1.
Contact me through my contact form, call or text 480-494-9912, or email me. Check out my contact page to get started.
2.
I will respond within a business day and we will set up a time for a free 15-minute phone call consultation. During this call, we will talk briefly about your goals for therapy, and I can share with you a little more in depth what the process might look like for your needs. You can ask questions and get a feel for whether or not this makes sense for your life right now. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule our first session during this call.
3.
In your first session we can really go in depth about what has brought you to therapy. We won’t go too far, you don’t need to bare your soul to this stranger you just met, but we can start to get a really clear picture of what feels wrong in your life right now, and decide a direction for where to go. Usually in this first session, you are able to walk away with at least one or two things to consider or try out to get you started on your journey to healing.
4.
We continue therapy in a way that makes sense to you. I will make recommendations around how often we meet, but we can always adapt that to fit your needs and lifestyle. We will keep checking in around whether or not you feel like this is helping, and might adapt along the way. Eventually, when you feel like you are ready, you get to graduate from therapy!
