LGBTQIA+

You aren’t depressed because you’re gay

But sometimes the world thinks it works that way. You need a therapist who isn’t going to blame your identity for your mental health. It is true that LGBTQIA+ people experience mental health challenges at higher rates, but I’m pretty sure that’s the culture’s fault, not ours. Therapy should be a safe place to explore without judgment. We might process topics such as:

  • Having family who don’t accept you

  • Exploring religious trauma

  • Exploring the nuance and unique elements of your identity

  • Navigating queer relationships in a world that doesn’t always support us

  • Navigating queer spaces and a community that still doesn’t accept all of it’s own members

  • Or whatever other mental health needs you have that have nothing to do with who you love

Whether you have been out for 40 years or are just starting the journey to understand yourself, we can honor every part of you and help you feel supported for every part of your identity.

Work with a queer therapist

Hi, I’m Grace, and I’m queer! (in case you couldn’t tell from, like, my whole vibe) I am a queer cis-female who has been in an LGBTQIA+ marriage for over 10 years. I have done my own work when it comes to my relationship with religion and spirituality, my own identity, how my relationship is perceived by others, and all the other things we have to balance in our culture. If you want a therapist who has lived experience as an LGBTQIA+ identifying person, I just might be the right fit.
